Our Story

We are Travis and Mackenzie of Graised Pastures in Historic Dandridge Tennessee, your local straight-from-the-farm source for ultra high quality pasture raised chicken.

A few years back we started paying more attention to where our food came from, and more importantly, how it came to be. We were shocked and saddened by the complete lack of transparency within the food industry. Consumers are often mislead by packaging with catchy words and phrases like “certified organic”, “free range”, “natural” and “local”. Some large commercial producers utilize these loosely defined keywords to catch the eye of consumers. Unfortunately, quite often, those terms may not mean what you think they mean.

After doing years of research and providing chicken for our friends and family, we decided it was time to scale up and bring some positive change to the industry and join the growing list of ethical, transparent farmers.

As small local farmers, we wouldn’t be able to continue doing this without our customers. We’d love to be your local source for higher quality, cleaner, tastier, sustainably and humanely raised chicken.

What Makes Our Chickens Different?

First and foremost, our number one priority is to provide our chickens with a safe and healthy environment that allows them to live as naturally as possible while still having protection from the elements and predators. As part of our efforts to make a positive impact on our land and the lives of our customers, we have committed to sustainable and humane farming practices.

We provide our chickens with a more natural living experience through daily pasture rotations, access to fresh grass (including bugs, worms, minerals, seeds, and grains), no vaccinations, no antibiotics, and our own nutrient rich custom blended organic, non-GMO, soy free supplemental feed. Healthier chickens lead to healthier chicken. Compared to conventional and barn raised chicken, pastured poultry is higher in omega-3s, vitamins A, D and E, and has less saturated fat.
